Adidas Superstar II J- WMNS 901029
Superstar II, released in 1969 by Adidas, was the first low-top basketball shoe to feature an all-leather upper and the now famous rubber shell toe box. Also referred to as the "shell toe" or "shell shoes", its iconic design is known for being one of the major influences in sneaker culture.
The Superstar received a lot of promotion from the rap trio Run DMC as they rocked their shell toes without laces pushing the tongue out, giving a nod to prison fashion. The group released a song called "My Adidas" in 1986 –further breeding popularity of the kicks amongst hip hop aficionados.
Superstars are now a timeless original that have become a mainstay in popular fashion/street wear culture.
